Has Ian Holloway resigned as Blackpool manager? That is the case, according to reports.
The Tangerines’ manager’s decision is said to be a direct consequence of the club’s £25,000 fine from the FA for fielding a weakened team against Aston Villa last year. Holloway had stated at the time that he would resign should the FA issue his club with a fine.
Holloway has been Blackpool’s boss since summer 2009, and after an amazing first season in the Championship, guided them to promotion via the play-offs last summer in a pulsating 3-2 win over Cardiff City at Wembley.
The former Queens Park Rangers and Leicester City manager has won plaudits this season for overachieving on a limited budget, his Blackpool side playing attacking, attractive football and doing the double over Liverpool this season.
As things stand, his final game in charge was the 3-2 defeat at home to Manchester United on Tuesday night.
News sources are still awaiting comment from the manager and club.
